SE!KIDS Operations Associate (Volunteer Engagement)

The role of the Operations Associate (Volunteer Onboarding) is to serve our SE!KIDS team, volunteers and families by ensuring our volunteer onboarding process is high quality and thorough according to the vision and strategy of Southeast Christian Church. This role will assist the SE!KIDS ministry team by ensuring that all SE!KIDS Volunteers are carefully and efficiently placed, equipped in skill and safety knowledge, and engaged in alignment with the mission, vision and mantras of Southeast Christian Church. This person will Be the Branch while connecting to both new and existing SE!KIDS volunteers by developing their gifts, encouraging them to grow, and will help to Unleash the Full Potential of the Church through our SE!KIDS Volunteer team. 

 

Essential Functions:

Work alongside the SE!KIDS team to:

  • Intentionally place volunteers in accordance with their gifts, qualifications, and the current needs of the ministry and connect them to staff supervisor for initial interview and shadowing date.
  • Assist each SE!KIDS Ministry area in maintaining specific volunteer onboarding plans, and follow up with placed volunteers and staff during onboarding period.
  • Partner with the SE!KIDS Ministry Leader and SE!KIDS Operations leader to implement volunteer recruitment, retention, training, and encouragement strategies.  This includes ensuring a disciple-making mindset with all serving in the ministry.
  • Create in-person Basics Class opportunities, and add more training opportunities in the future.
  • Partner with Student Ministries to create an effective model for training, discipling, mentoring, and holding accountable our minor volunteers.
  • Ensure that staff and volunteers are up to date on required trainings such as MinistrySafe, and make recommendations for areas where re-training may need to occur on a cyclical basis.
  • Monitor volunteers turning 18 and proactively pursue the adult volunteer clearance process.
  • Be the team Planning Center platform expert (or become one) to support the team’s use of PCO.
  • Manage connections for new volunteers, completing the clearance process from start to finish in a timely manner as needed to support other SE!KIDS Operations staff.
  • Collaborate with SE!KIDS Leader and team to plan and create video trainings specific to the Blankenbaker SE!KIDS Team.
  • Manage process for volunteer re-commitment yearly, as well as collecting data/feedback from those serving, and for those stepping down, changing roles, or moving to another ministry area. 
  • Partner with SE!KIDS team for ministry events to oversee volunteer roles and needs, and ensure proper training and placements for these roles is implemented.
  • Partner with SE!KIDS team to plan and implement volunteer encouragement, pastoral care, special events, uniform (t-shirts etc), and other projects specific to the SE!KIDS Volunteer team.

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience with PCO platform (Planning Center) or willing to learn
  • At least two years of experience in children’s ministry and/or training and equipping.
  • Extremely organized; ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong interpersonal skills and coaching abilities
  • Awareness of safety/government/medical policies and procedures to ensure a safe ministry environment and effective training
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Team player with an enthusiasm for collaboration
  • Highly effective and engaging communication skills
  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church (or willing to become one) who supports our Statement of Faith, submits to the leadership established by the church, and lives out our church Mantra in tangible ways.
