Description

The Foster Care & Adoption Associate works alongside the Foster Care & Adoption Ministry Leader to inform, connect, and equip the church in caring for vulnerable children and families. The Associate will work primarily with foster and adoptive parents in the church and engage local community and non-profit organizations.


Essential Functions

  • Plan, promote and coordinate church-wide Foster & Adoptive Parent programs and events
  • Participate in the development of Foster Care & Adoption Ministry strategies and plans
  • Develop partnerships with campuses and other internal and external ministries necessary to achieve ministry objectives
  • Recruit, train and lead volunteers who serve within the ministry
  • Teach informational sessions and parent training as needed
  • Serve as a pastoral advisor to both new and existing Foster & Adoptive Families
  • Assist with the development of digital and print content for the promotion of events and programs.

 

Essential Competencies

  • Knowledge of the Foster Care & Adoption journey, including training in trauma-informed parenting strategies
  • Capable leader - able to build and inspire a team toward action
  • Able to plan and coordinate events and programs
  • Experience with teaching and speaking in front of various audiences
  • Self-motivated and responsible
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills - connects well and establishes healthy working relationships.

 

Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Church leadership experience at the staff or volunteer level
  • Personal or professional background in the Foster Care or Adoption journey
  • Strong passion for the biblical call for Christians to serve vulnerable children and families
  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church (or willing to become one) who supports our Statement of Faith, submits to the leadership established by the church, and lives out our church Mantra in tangible ways.
