The role of the ministry nurse is to work closely with the staff and volunteers to maintain and ensure a healthy and safe environment for our children. The nurse will primarily work on the weekends (10-12 hours week or less) with occasional daytime/evening meetings and special events. This individual will have a passion to minister to our families as they discuss sometimes sensitive topics that effect their lives. This role should be viewed as an opportunity for ministry as well as the day to day functions in keeping with the mission, vision, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church.
 
Essential Functions

• Be proactive to improve/maintain safety, health of Southeast Christian
• Decide if a child is putting other children’s health or safety at risk and communicate with parents about concern
• Evaluate children’s health concerns and speak to parents about it if needed
• Assist staff or volunteers whenever needed in any role or capacity that is helpful to the team
• Be on-call when at church for health concerns for adults or kids

 
Essential Competencies

• Nursing experience, especially with children, is helpful
• Passion to minister to families is essential
• And love for children and family as yourself 

 
Required Education, Experience, and Membership

• Must be a Registered Nurse from the KY Board of Nursing
• CPR certified
• An engaged member of Southeast (or willing to become one) with a demonstrated alignment with Southeast’s Statement of Faith and mantra
