Description

The NextGen Pastor of Worship & Creative Arts is responsible for overseeing and developing the creative and musical side of our weekly student services with volunteer worship teams. This happens in partnership with the Indiana NextGen team in both philosophy and program collaboration. This role also shapes the beliefs and values of what Biblical worship is in Student Ministry while it ensures alignment with the vision, mission, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church.  If you see yourself in this description and feel called to invest in the lives of MS and HS Students to encourage them to personally connect with Jesus through music, singing and prayer, then please take a thorough review and consider applying! 

 

You would be:

  • Leading worship and executing creative elements weekly in NextGen services, retreats, and camps
  • Engaging in student culture through worship, environment, events, groups, etc.
  • Building a culture of Discipleship within the volunteer team middle and high school services
    • Discipling and encouraging spiritual development with a team of musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers
    • Teaching and shaping skill development for musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers
    • Recruiting and training new students/adult volunteers
  • Coordinating & collaboration with NextGen team and all creative volunteer teams
  • Working in planning center account
  • Building and maintain healthy working relationships & partnerships with other creative/worship teams on staff at all campuses
  • Managing administrative needs within creative arts and worship within NextGen
  • Managing and maintaining social media accounts for Middle School Ministry and High School Ministry on a regular basis
  • Assisting with creating graphics and content for social media, printed materials, and other promotional/communication needs within student ministry in conjunction with the NextGen team and NextGen Graphic Designer
  • Giving creative direction for video content and storytelling within student ministry in conjunction with the NextGen team and Video/Communications staff
You must have:
  • Excellent vocal and musical ability
  • Strong understanding of music and production and ability to recruit, equip and train others to serve in all areas of Next Gen programming
  • Ability to lead, disciple, and develop students spiritually, musically, and relationally
  • Thorough understanding of how to engage students using social media
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral)
  • Steady demeanor under pressure
  • Heart for the next generation
  • A desire to disciple volunteers (students/adults)
  • Process-oriented thinking, ministry wiring, and problem solving skills
  • Team-player mindset & strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter and motivator, both flexible and decisive, with good conflict management skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask, think “big picture” and delegate responsibility
  • Must be able to lead volunteers well and create a discipleship/mentor environment among volunteers (adults and students)

Required Education, Experience, and Membership: 

  • Experience in leading worship in large contexts
  • 3-5 years working in student ministry and/or leading worship in the local church & experience working with adults
  • Strong knowledge of PC and Mac software utilizing Ableton, Planning Center Online, Pro-Presenter
  •  Bachelor’s degree in ministry preferred
  • Active member of SCC (or willing to become one); supporting the statement of faith and submitting to the established leadership
  • Ordained or willing to move toward ordination in ministry
