Description

The High School Lead Pastor is a gifted speaker and leader who shepherds the HSM Ministry team to develop disciples who make disciples. You will oversee ministry initiatives, including weekend programming, school outreach and partnerships, home groups, disciple making initiatives, community and global outreach, and missional opportunities, in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church. You'll also join Southeast in raising up church members to be future ministry leaders and staff members.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the student ministry staff across ministries and campuses to create the most effective environments for developing disciples who make disciples.
  • Establish and maintain an intentional, engaged presence in local high schools and extra-curricular activities and events; build discipleship relationships with student leaders.
  • Connect new students and adult volunteers to disciple making opportunities.
  • Keep a close connection with the creative/production team in developing content and curriculum so that the vision for making disciples is shared and understood.
  • Consistently identify and develop new leaders to serve in HSM; clearly communicate the need and culture required to make disciples; shepherd and connect new students and adults in intentional opportunities to engage in ministry as part of their disciple-making process.
  • Work with local and international missions to create a pipeline for missional DNA in the student disciple making culture.
  • Work with the Student Ministry Leader to establish the teaching schedule. Teach and speak in weekend student programming, as scheduled.
  • Lead the HSM local outreach and on campus initiatives.
  • Lead, develop, and shepherd all high school ministry staff.
  • Perform various ministry duties; such as, baptisms, hospital visitation, marriages, counseling, Minister on Call, etc.

Essential Competencies

  • Previous experience teaching to large groups and leading staff and volunteers.
  • A natural connector and leader with the ability to vision cast.
  • A healthy understanding and passion for discipling and mission.

  • Must be able to look into and simplify complex systems and processes.
  • Clearly communicate tangible/practical vision and strategies to staff, leaders, parents, and students.
  • Able to patiently deal with conflict both inside and outside of the church.
  • Flexibility in schedule.
  • Good communicator and listener.
  • Self starter, but seeks to collaborate on the end goal.

Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • Five or more years of ministry experience, including leadership experience.
  • Ordained into ministry
  • Ministry/counseling degree – counseling is key in understanding and working through personality and relationship dynamics.
  • Previous experience leading a volunteer labor force in accomplishing a long term goal.
  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church who supports the Statement of Faith, submits to the leadership established by the church, and lives out our mantra in tangible ways.
