The Student Ministry Leader will lead the HSM and MSM Ministry and volunteers in efforts to reach, lead, and disciple the Next Generation, awakening students to the glory of God in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

  • Develop and implement weekly student programming for High School and Middle School, in both large group and small group settings.
  • Offer Student programming in portable setting in a manner that is both creative and compelling.
  • Shepherd, lead, disciple, train and empower an army of volunteers to love and disciple students.
  • Come alongside parents and equip them to disciple their student(s)
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate staff and team meetings.
  • Participate with the campus staff in community engagement.
  • Participate in weekend services as needed.
  • Develop and maintain annual budget for student ministry.
  • Oversee/plan volunteer worship (music) team for services.
  • Collaborate and communicate with SECC student ministries at other campuses.
  • Attend meetings relevant to SECC student ministries.
  • Pastor High School and Middle School students as evidenced by visiting schools and personal visitations as needed during crisis situations.
  • Help with weekly setup and tear down for Sunday services.
  • Lives in Nelson County or willing to relocate within first year.
  • Develop, oversee and lead local outreach opportunities for students, as well as, domestic and international mission trips.
  • The objectives for all student ministry staff are to:
    • Have a direct partnership with a local school.
    • Lead a small group of students.
    • Recruit, shepherd and develop leaders.
    • Attend “all team” meetings and join in cross campus collaboration.


Our Must-Haves

  • Outside the box thinker. Able to creatively offer Student programming in a portable setting.
  • Able to communicate in a large group setting that is relevant to the age demographic in attendance for the purpose of growing fully devoted disciples of Jesus.
  • Willingness to be mentored and coached to improve as a pastor, preacher/teacher and leader.
  • Knowledgeable of social media currently used by High School and Middle School students.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and shepherding skills.
  • Thorough understanding of and passion for Biblical discipleship.
  • Highly relational and strong people skills.
  • Experienced in leading and developing others.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Ability to generate leadership respect and focus a room of Middle School and High School students.


Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • Southeast Membership is required, or willingness to become a member, who supports our Statement of Faith, submits to the leadership established by the church, and lives out our church Mantra in tangible ways.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience within/around a large church environment.
