The role of the Master Control Operator/Systems Engineer is multi-faceted. Weekend responsibilities center around the successful broadcast of our worship services. This includes monitoring the quality and accuracy of the online broadcast, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and preparing programming for future playback. Weekday responsibilities for this role include working directly with staff Audio, Video, and Lighting Engineers to design/maintain/troubleshoot/document all AVL systems within the Blankenbaker Worship Center (BB WC).

All to be done with the primary purpose of achieving the mission, vision, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church, resulting in communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure streaming of all weekend services and specified special events within the BB WC are on-time, adhering to broadcast technical standards, and routed to the correct online platforms
  • Work alongside the AVL Engineers to ensure all systems including intercom and networking are functional as well as helping to design and document all systems
  • Partner with the Broadcast Team Production Director and Team Leads, Creative Team, and Weekend Executive Producer to improve and implement SECC broadcast/streaming strategies
  • Adhere to annual video budget, including AVL, IT, Intercom systems, etc.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings
  • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with Production Arts Ministry, Worship Ministry, IT Department, other ministries and campuses
  • Lead/develop a group of volunteers/contractors as the MCO platform expands
     

Essential Competencies

  • Solid working knowledge of MCO systems, streaming, and online platforms
  • Understanding and ability to implement broadcast audio and video standards
  • Competency in live video production and HD/SDI video systems, switchers, cameras, matrix routers, playback servers, recording gear and other video equipment
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, ProPresenter and various other video applications
  • Solid working knowledge of system design software
  • Working knowledge of audio/lighting software
  • Ability to problem-solve and clearly communicate solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership abilities, especially when it comes to developing and equipping contract/volunteer leaders of differing skill levels
  • Ability to think creatively, both to solve problems and accommodate ministry event needs
  • Must be passionate about creating excellent experiences, including a willingness and enthusiasm to partner with ministries in executing events outside of the weekend experience
  • Flexibility in schedule based on regular weekend services and special events

Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • 4+ yrs. in MCO/live broadcast
  • Experience in leadership roles in either a medium or large church environment
  • College Degree or equivalent experience
  • Champion the mission of Southeast Christian Church: Connecting People to Jesus and One Another.
  • Be a member, or willing to become a member, of Southeast Christian Church
  • Demonstrated alignment with SE statement of faith
