We are looking for a Head Groundskeeper to join our team and lead our Groundskeeping team to care for and make beautiful the grounds at Southeast Christian Church. Our Head Groundskeeper will have many tools and resources available to provide a high level of care for out outdoor areas. They should be able to keep up the appearance of our outdoor areas by keeping lawns manicured, hedges trimmed, and pathways clean from debris. A Head Groundskeeper’s responsibilities include Landscape design, implementation and maintenance, fertilizing lawns, trees and shrubs. They also trim hedges or bushes to keep them looking neat throughout the year. Ultimately, you will work outside and lead a small team of other Groundskeepers to ensure our outdoor areas maintain high level of excellence for our members and guest.

Essential Functions

• Provides planning, project management, training, and development for the team, while maintaining the mission, vision and values of Southeast Christian Church.
• Encourages and mentors staff, promoting a positive work culture.
• Maintain gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides in an environmentally acceptable manner.
• Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions including snow removal and salting of roadway and sidewalks.
• Operate and maintain all groundskeeping equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Schedule and manage outsourced projects when applicable.
• Achieves budget compliance and cost monitoring of the Groundskeeping operation.

Essential Competencies

• Proven work experience as a Head Groundskeeper or similar role
• Familiarity with sprinkler systems and other landscaping equipment
• Knowledge of landscape design and techniques
• Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand and operate equipment for long periods.

Required Education, Experience, and Membership

• High School Diploma Required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience of increasing responsibility in a successful leadership role.
• Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church or willing to become one, who supports the Statement of Faith. Submits to the leadership established by the church, and lives out our church mantra in tangible ways.
