Description

The Community Engagement Leader will serve to further the disciple-making mission and vision of Southeast Christian Church by serving as a bridge between the campus and the surrounding community, namely through fostering relationships with individuals, schools, churches, and organizations. The Community Engagement Leader will develop relationships with SECC members and attendees, encouraging them to love members of their community one at a time and to live out the Southeast Christian Church Mantras.

This is a pastoral role in which the focus is time spent immersed in the community as well as partnering with other campus ministries to engage the community. This person will ensure the alignment with the overarching mission, vision, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church in relation to community engagement and life transformation.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

  • Engage in mission/vision of SECC by unleashing and shepherding missional communities, namely of SECC members and attendees, in their campus’ surrounding community.
  • Identify/recruit, train and provide ongoing coaching of SECC members and attendees who are developing disciple-makers in pursuit of connecting people to Jesus and one another in their neighborhood and community.
  • Lead the benevolent mission of the campus under the direction of the campus pastor.
  • Lead the Campus Mission Team. (CMT)
  • Have a close working relationship with campus ministries and the campus pastor to help align the community and campus discipleship model.
  • Develop and foster relationships with local schools, churches, organizations and mission partners
  • Invest in local community through local leadership/organizational infrastructure (housing associations, chamber of commerce, etc.)
  • Develop tools and training aids to support missional communities and equip SECC members and attendees for missional living within their community.
  • Other pastoral duties as assigned, such as baptisms, weddings, funerals, MOC, etc.

Required Education, Ministry Experience, and SECC Membership:

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Ordained into ministry (or pursuant within first 90 days of employment)
  • Must be a mature Christian who is thoroughly grounded in the Word of God, demonstrating a commitment to the doctrine and practice of SECC and the Restoration Movement
  • Be an involved member of Southeast Christian Church (or willing to become one); supporting our Statement of Faith and submitting to the leadership established by the church.
