Description

The Community Pastor will focus on launching and developing Disciple-Making Communities in neighborhoods and workplaces throughout Greater Louisville. This person is absolutely committed to the vision of seeing the Gospel in walking distance of every neighborhood, workplace, and school throughout this area. He will seek to align with the mission, vision, and strategies of Southeast Christian Church by identifying, recruiting, training and deploying Disciple-Making Leaders throughout his specified region.

 

        Essential Functions

  • Engage in mission/vision of SECC by planting, developing, and shepherding disciple-making communities in neighborhoods throughout Greater Louisville

  • Identify, recruit, train, deploy and provide ongoing coaching of Disciple-Makers who connect people to Jesus and one another

  • Assist in connecting new members/visitors to involvement within SECC

  • Engage and partner with local faith/like-minded leaders embedded in the community for purposes of prayer, restoration and community transformation

  • Invest in community through local leadership/organizational infrastructure (housing associations, chamber of commerce etc.

  • Build upon the established missional network in Louisville by identifying, recruiting, and partnering with individuals and organizations that are living out the Gospel

  • Serve as community leader in own neighborhood

  • Provide pastoral care and leadership support to community leaders

  • Develop tools and training aids to support community leaders

  • Unite the body of Christ in prayer throughout the Louisville

  • Engage and connect with Blankenbaker campus staff weekly

  • Attend Blankenbaker campus meetings and share what is happening throughout the region

  • Partner with Campus and Connections pastors to connect people within the walls of the church. This includes facilitating classes, Man Challenge table leader trainings, etc.

  • Lead local school outreach program by developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders engaged in local schools.

  • Identify and recruit community leaders for schools without a Gospel presence.

  • Other pastoral duties as assigned; such as, baptisms, weddings, funerals, MOC, etc.

    Essential Competencies

     

  • Must have a love for the lost in the community, and a demonstrated ability to, maturely, serve and interact well with people from all ages and walks of life

  • Must have experience overseeing volunteers and leaders

  • Demonstrated experience identifying, recruiting and developing lay leaders

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Decisive/Solutions oriented/Conflict management skills

  • High levels of self-motivation and drive

     

    Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • Undergraduate degree required

  • Ordained into ministry (or pursuant within first 90 days of employment)

  • Must make best effort to live in, or move to, assigned region within first year of employment

  • Must be a mature Christian who is thoroughly grounded in the Word of God, demonstrates a commitment to the doctrine and practice of SCC and the Restoration Movement

  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church who supports the Statement of Faith and submits to the leadership established by the church
