Description
Are you passionate about serving and encouraging others to serve?  Are you a strategic thinker with a gift for collaborating and leading others to implement long term strategies?  As the Volunteer Engagement Leader you will lead the church-wide movement to unite staff and members around a volunteer culture that activates every person to express their God-created purpose through serving, while maintaining alignment with the mission, vision and strategies of Southeast Christian Church.
 

Essential Functions

  • Oversee church-wide efforts to identify serving opportunities and recruit, connect and equip volunteers to fulfill their calling to serve.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to identify serving opportunities and maximize recruitment strategies.
  • Lead volunteer awareness and recruitment weekends.
  • Oversee the volunteer application and on-boarding process, including volunteer assessment, placement, and training/coaching.
  • Oversee the development of consistent volunteer job titles and job descriptions.
  • Work with ministry leaders to most effectively utilize the volunteer database.
  • Establish best practices that lead to more effective training of volunteers.
  • Establish best practices that promote volunteer retention.
  • Connect serving opportunities with the overall mission of the church by regularly communicating stories of service.
  • Utilize volunteer metrics to make continuous improvements to volunteer strategies and systems.
  • Collaborate with the organizational development ministry to evaluate staff and volunteer positions in an effort to engage volunteers in doing kingdom work.
  • Supervises one staff member who performs related duties.

  • Ability to understand the serving vision of the church and implement a long term strategy
  • Ability to facilitate creative problem solving and independent thinking in ministries
  • Ability to motivate and bring excitement to the volunteer process
  • Ability to initiate projects, to remain focused and organized, and to attain strategic goals within state timelines; detail oriented
  • Ability to collaborate and build partnerships and trust with other ministries
  • Computer experience: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ROCK experience helpful
  • Spiritual gifts of service, discernment, and administration
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry (or Bachelor’s degree in another field with equivalent ministry experience)
  • 5 or more years of related experience in a large church
  • Experience recruiting, equipping and leading a volunteer movement
  • Engaged member of SECC (or willing to become one) who supports the Statement of Faith and submits to the leadership of the church
