Description

Our Finance Ministry has an opening for Payroll Coordinator. The role reports to our Accounting Manager and will perform recurring duties related to payroll, cash receipts and assist in sorting and counting contributions along with any assigned special projects. The person who steps into this position will exhibit graciousness, integrity and confidentiality and will perform their position in order to further the mission, vision and strategies of Southeast Christian Church.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties will include:

  • Compile and process payroll data
  • Prepare journal entries to be posted to the general ledger
  • Assist staff members of Southeast Christian Church and its affiliates with payroll issues in a confidential and professional manner
  • Assist with 401(k), Workers Compensation annual audits
  • Support supervisors and employees with payroll questions.
  • Review time cards & leave requests, correcting as needed.
  • Review benefit balances and adjust as directed by supervisors or HR.
  • Review HSA & 401k forecasts and notify HR (Benefits Manager) of those approaching limits.
  • Process payroll for SECC, The Outlook, & Country Lake.
  • Verify final accuracy of payroll registers & cash requirement reports.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and print payroll reports for Controller.
  • Verify and print 401k reports for Controller.
  • Notify Childcare Coordinators of payroll numbers.
  • Assist with contributions on alternating Mondays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Essential Functions:

  • Support supervisors and employees with Paycor/payroll questions.
  • Review time cards & leave requests, correcting as needed.
  • Review benefit balances and adjust as directed by supervisors or HR.
  • Review HSA & 401k Forecasts and notify HR (Benefits Manager) of those approaching limits.
  • Process payroll for SECC, The Outlook, & Country Lake.
  • Verify final accuracy of payroll registers & cash requirement reports.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and print payroll reports for Controller.
  • Verify and print 401k reports for Controller.
  • Notify Childcare Coordinators of payroll numbers.
  • Review & file quarterly tax reports.
  • Assist with contributions on alternating Mondays.
  • Collect and enter attendance numbers.
  • Send out attendance spreadsheets and Outlook notifications.
  • Collect and process miscellaneous deposits, two-party counts, and children’s offerings.
  • Report children’s offering numbers.
  • Prepare deposits for bank processing.
  • Create and send monthly list of staff birthdays to Preaching Administrative Assistant.
  • Update and distribute monthly MRFM spreadsheets.

To be considered:

  • Must be a member and have a demonstrated alignment with Southeast Christian Church’s Statement of Faith and submit to the leadership.
  • Prefer 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a church environment
  • Previous experience with payroll software
  • Knowledge of wage and hour rules as required by state and federal agencies
  • Knowledge of taxable wages for federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
