Description

Are you a law enforcement and safety expert with a heart for ministry? Do you want to create and maintain environments where people can safely attend events and connect with Jesus and one another? The Safety & Security Manager administers safety and security programs at the Blankenbaker campus, under the direction of the Director of Safety and Security, and contributes to church-wide safety and security programs and procedures in a manner than aligns with Southeast’s mission, vision, and strategies.

 

Essential Functions

  • Identifies safety and security requirements for events and worship services.
  • Collaborates with campus operations leader and others  to help identify and mobilize resources for safety and security needs and establish medical response requirements.
  • Identifies security staffing needs; collaborates with others to hire, schedule, and manage the security teams.
  • Oversees contract police officers who provide personal security for key staff; coordinates and directs police officer duties during church functions.
  • Identifies training needs for staff and security teams; provides training as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and updates safety and security plans including:  weekend services, special events, children and student programs, staff members, facilities, emergency response planning, medical readiness, sports and fitness activities/equipment, and property.
  • Establishes and manages medical response programs consisting of volunteer and contract persons; oversees the medical teams.
  • Initiates security responses to suspicious activity.
  • Manages the process for collection and storage of offerings from start to finish.
  • Responds to slips and falls.
  • Manages the access control system and monitors surveillance.
  • Oversees the background check process for volunteers and applicants.
  • Insures compliance to state, federal, and church safety regulations and policies at multiple campuses; Oversees safety equipment; insures compliance of fire and safety codes, chemical use and storage, and food vendors/health codes.
  • Responsible for child safety policies and processes.

Essential Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships and network with staff, members, visitors, the public, and all levels of police, fire, and emergency personnel; strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work well independently as well as on a team.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time and respond to situations which require physical exertion.
  • Experience in conducting, assessing and responding to threat analyses.
  • Knowledge of safety and security operations; familiarity with law enforcement systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of equipment, policies and procedures to promote effective security operations for the protection of people, data and property.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • A heart for and understanding of ministry, with a desire to help those ministries whose main focus is to connect people to Jesus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of private and sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal fire and safety regulations.
  • Spiritual gifts of leadership, administration, service and discernment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time to other SE locations, if needed.

Required Education, Experience, and Membership

  • Five years of laws enforcement experience as a sworn law enforcement officer; safety experience preferred.
  • CCDW certified.
  • Available to work most weekend and special events; flexible schedule.
  • B.S. degree in a related field.
  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church who supports the Statement of Faith and submits to the leadership of the church.
